Innovation Sprints & Hackathons

What is an Innovation Sprint?

An innovation sprint is a short, focused, purposeful event designed to achieve solutions to a specific challenge or opportunity. Together your delegates from inside and often outside your organisation will collaborate to collectively define what success looks like for your challenge or opportunity, generate and develop ideas to achieve that success, and create early prototypes and plans for action.

Examples of sprint themes include:

  • Digital strategy
  • New product development
  • New service development
  • Customer experience strategy
  • Improving productivity for frontline employees through technology
  • Marketing and communication campaign development
  • Customer acquisition
  • Customer retention
  • Win strategies for competitive bids and tenders
  • Defining USP (Unique Selling Point) and competitive advantage

What can I expect from a sprint?

Innovation sprints vary in duration but usually take place between half a day and a couple of weeks, depending on the complexity and priority levels of the challenge or opportunity. We find that our customers prefer to run their innovation sprint over 1, 2, 3 or 5 days in practice.

The focus, speed and agility of the innovation sprint format is collaborative, energising and rewarding for participants, as well as being commercially beneficial for the organisation, because it is designed so that you make real, valuable progress and create momentum that goes beyond the innovation sprint itself to accelerate implementation. Additional benefits include stronger relationships between colleagues created by better understanding of each other’s roles and perspectives and support for developing a more innovative culture.

We document all the work created in your innovation sprint and write everything up for you, with photographs of delegate work included, so that you have a full record of your event and a clear roadmap for implementation.
